CRISIS RECOGNITION
Warning signs of a mental health crisis include talking about wanting to die or self-harm, expressing hopelessness, withdrawing from activities and relationships, dramatic mood changes, increased substance use, giving away possessions, and feeling like a burden. If you notice these signs in someone, take them seriously and reach out for help.
SUPPORTING SOMEONE IN CRISIS
Stay calm and listen without judgment. Take any mention of self-harm seriously. Remove access to potential means of harm when possible. Stay with the person until professional help arrives. Call 988 or (800) 433-7291 for guidance on how to help.
