The Birch is a specialized long-term treatment program located at RiverValley Behavioral Health Children’s Hospital on Industrial Drive in Owensboro. The BIRCH program — Building Confidence, Inspiring Hope, Recognizing Strengths, Cultivating Connections, Healing Together — serves male adolescents ages 12–17 who require six to nine months of intensive, trauma-informed residential treatment.

Developed in partnership with and funded by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health & Family Services, this first-of-its-kind program in Kentucky is designed for youth who have experienced repeated crises or struggled in previous placements.
