Building Better Behaviors, One Step at a Time

Some children struggle with behaviors that affect their safety, relationships, school performance, and overall wellbeing. Our behavioral intervention services use evidence-based strategies to help young people understand their behaviors, develop healthier alternatives, and build the skills they need for success at home, in school, and in their communities.

Behavioral intervention at our Children’s Hospital goes beyond managing disruptive behaviors. Our approach focuses on understanding WHY a child behaves the way they do and teaching them skills to respond differently.

We take time to explain how each medication works, what benefits you might expect, potential side effects, and how long it may take to see results. We believe informed patients are empowered patients.

Our providers treat a wide range of conditions including depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, ADHD, PTSD, schizophrenia, and other mental health conditions using evidence-based prescribing practices.

Regular follow-up appointments are essential to medication management. Your provider will monitor your response, assess side effects, and make adjustments as needed. We work collaboratively to fine-tune your treatment.

For many people, medication works best when combined with therapy and other supportive services. Our integrated approach allows your prescriber to coordinate with your therapist and care team to ensure everything works together effectively.

Telehealth medication appointments are available for established patients, making it easier to maintain consistent care.

What to Expect

Your first evaluation typically lasts 45-60 minutes. Please bring a list of all current medications including over-the-counter supplements, any previous psychiatric records, and your medical history.

After your evaluation, your provider will discuss treatment recommendations and answer any questions before you make a decision together. Follow-up appointments are typically every 2-4 weeks initially, then less frequently once treatment stabilizes. Between appointments, our team is available for medication-related questions.
