The Amethyst Center
Residential Recovery for Mothers and Their Babies
The Amethyst Center is a residential substance use treatment facility in Owensboro designed to feel like home — because recovery happens best when you feel safe. With space for 16 women and 6 infants, our program allows mothers to keep their newborns close while receiving the intensive, round-the-clock support they need to build a foundation for lasting recovery.

For mothers whose recovery requires more intensive support than outpatient services can provide, The Amethyst Center offers a structured, nurturing residential environment where women can focus entirely on healing. The facility is designed to feel like home, not an institution — because comfort and dignity are essential to recovery.
What makes The Amethyst Center unique for mothers is the ability to keep their newborns with them during treatment. Pregnant women in the program can deliver while receiving care, and new mothers can bring infants born during their stay. This keeps the mother-infant bond intact during a critical developmental window while ensuring both mother and baby receive the support they need.
The treatment model provides approximately 20 hours per week of structured programming including group and individual counseling, nursing and psychiatric services, drug and alcohol education, life skills development, and parenting education. Residents also participate in daily activities designed to build sober living skills and prevent relapse.
Case management is a central component of the program. Our team works with each woman to address the practical barriers that often stand in the way of sustained recovery — helping them gain employment, obtain housing, arrange transportation and childcare, and rebuild relationships. The treatment model can last up to nine months, giving residents the time they need to develop a strong foundation.
The Amethyst Center works closely with our ROSES For Moms outpatient program. Many women step down from residential care into ROSES For Moms for ongoing therapy, peer support, and family navigation as they transition back to independent living. This continuum of care ensures that mothers don’t lose momentum as they move between levels of support.

What to Expect
Admission begins with a clinical assessment to determine if residential care is the right fit. If you’re pregnant or have a newborn, our team will coordinate care with your OB/GYN and pediatrician to ensure continuity of medical care for both you and your baby throughout your stay.
Residents live on-site in a comfortable, home-style setting and participate in a structured daily schedule that includes group sessions, individual counseling, educational programming, and personal time. The treatment model can extend up to nine months, allowing for the deep, sustained work that lasting recovery requires. When you’re ready, our team helps plan your transition — whether to ROSES For Moms, The Pearl House, or independent living with ongoing outpatient support.
