Residential Recovery for Women and Mothers

The Amethyst Center is RiverValley Behavioral Health’s 16-bed residential treatment program designed specifically for women in recovery. Located at 1224 Venable Avenue in Owensboro, this home-like facility also accommodates up to 6 infants, allowing pregnant and newly parenting mothers to keep their babies with them during treatment.

We understand that women face unique challenges in addiction and recovery. The Amethyst Center provides a safe, nurturing environment where women can focus entirely on healing—surrounded by peers and staff who understand their experiences and needs.

The program provides 20 hours of structured programming each week, including individual and group therapy, life skills training, relapse prevention education, and wellness activities. Women learn to address the underlying issues driving their addiction while building the skills needed for independent, sober living.

For mothers, The Amethyst Center removes one of the biggest barriers to treatment—separation from their children. Mothers can keep their infants with them, participating in parenting skill-building alongside their recovery work. This family-centered approach strengthens the bond between mother and child during a critical time.

Treatment incorporates evidence-based approaches including trauma-informed care, which is essential for many women in recovery. Our team addresses co-occurring mental health conditions, relationship issues, and other factors that contribute to substance use.

The Amethyst Center connects with RiverValley’s full continuum of care. Upon completion, women can transition to The Pearl House recovery home, outpatient services, or the ROSES For Moms program for continued support in their recovery journey.
