Regional Prevention Center
The Regional Prevention Center (RPC) serves coalitions and Kentucky Agency for Substance Abuse Policy (KY-ASAP) boards across RiverValley’s seven-county region, working to stop substance misuse before it starts. Our approach draws on strategies from the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention and CADCA’s Seven Strategies for Community Change.
KY-Moms MATR
The KY-Moms MATR Program supports expectant mothers across the Commonwealth who are at risk of using alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs. The goal is simple: less harm to babies, during pregnancy and after.
We provide pregnant and postpartum women with intensive prevention education to support informed decision-making for a healthy baby. This helps ensure that more babies and children across the state receive a healthier start in life and the support they need to grow into future leaders. Because healthy communities start with Mom!
Zero Tolerance Program
Our Zero Tolerance Program provides intensive prevention education for youth under twenty-one (21) who have incurred an alcohol or drug violation.
Participants are referred by the court system and are screened to ensure they meet program criteria.
Healthy Baby Workshops
We provide free workshops for pregnant and postpartum women. Participants must be located in Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, Ohio, Union, and Webster counties, and currently use, or are at risk of using, alcohol, tobacco, and other substances. Participants will receive free gifts for mom and baby!
#NoMoreBoxes
The #NoMoreBoxes campaign launched in July 2022, aimed at breaking the stereotype that most teens participate in drug and alcohol use on a regular basis.
Community Training
RiverValley’s RPC works with community partners across our service area to effectively address substance misuse prevention through workshops, presentations, training, and other educational opportunities. Learn more on our Community Training page.
Regional Prevention Center Library
The Regional Prevention Center Library is located at RVBH@The Crowne (107 E 2nd Street, Owensboro, KY 42303). Books, journals, and DVDs are available for loan. Reference materials are also available for on-site public use. The Library also offers brochures and access to national databases to provide the most current information on substance use topics at the regional, state, and national levels.
Youth Mental Health Art Contest
Each spring, during Mental Health Awareness Month, RVBH invites K-College students to submit visual art on the theme “Be Kind to Your Mind.” Since the contest began in 2021, students across our seven-county service area have entered more than 1,500 pieces, and we’ve awarded over $30,000 in scholarships and matching donations.
